West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced an allocation of ₹1,200 crore for the Ghatal Master Plan to combat recurring floods. The funds will be released in the current financial year, with the Centre and State governments sharing the costs equally. Adhikari urged officials and local MLAs to expedite the project, aiming for completion before the next monsoon season. The master plan, estimated at ₹1,500 crore, aims to improve drainage and water management across 11 blocks and five municipalities in Paschim and Purba Medinipur districts.

पश्चिम बंगाल के मुख्यमंत्री सुवेंदु अधिकारी ने बार-बार आने वाली बाढ़ से निपटने के लिए घाटाल मास्टर प्लान के लिए ₹1,200 करोड़ के आवंटन की घोषणा की है। यह राशि चालू वित्तीय वर्ष में जारी की जाएगी, जिसमें केंद्र और राज्य सरकारें लागत बराबर साझा करेंगी। अधिकारी ने अधिकारियों और स्थानीय विधायकों से अगले मानसून से पहले परियोजना को पूरा करने के लक्ष्य के साथ इसे तेजी से पूरा करने का आग्रह किया। ₹1,500 करोड़ की अनुमानित मास्टर प्लान का उद्देश्य पश्चिम और पुरबा मेदिनीपुर जिलों के 11 ब्लॉक और पांच नगर पालिकाओं में जल निकासी और जल प्रबंधन में सुधार करना है।
