India's green energy transition is facing a significant challenge due to the absence of long-duration energy storage solutions. While longer discharge durations improve technology economics, storing more energy incurs higher costs. Consequently, short-duration storage systems are unlikely to be cost-effective for discharge periods exceeding six hours. This gap hinders the nation's ability to reliably integrate renewable energy sources into its power grid.
