Ujjain Protests Turn Violent Over Masjid Demolition

Tensions flared in Ujjain on Monday as protesters clashed with police during demonstrations against development work. The clashes erupted after a portion of the Shahi Masjid was demolished for a road-widening project linked to the 2028 Simhastha Kumbh Mela preparations. Police used tear gas to disperse stone-pelting crowds, with some officers sustaining minor injuries. The SP stated that demolition work is ongoing with the mosque committee's consent, and miscreants attempted to incite trouble.

सोमवार को उज्जैन में विकास कार्यों के विरोध में प्रदर्शन कर रहे प्रदर्शनकारियों और पुलिस के बीच झड़पें हुईं। 2028 सिंहस्थ कुंभ मेला की तैयारियों से जुड़े सड़क चौड़ीकरण परियोजना के लिए शाही मस्जिद के एक हिस्से को गिराए जाने के बाद झड़पें हुईं। पुलिस ने पत्थरबाजी कर रही भीड़ को तितर-बितर करने के लिए आंसू गैस का इस्तेमाल किया, जिसमें कुछ पुलिसकर्मी मामूली रूप से घायल हो गए। एसपी ने कहा कि मस्जिद समिति की सहमति से विध्वंस का काम चल रहा है, और उपद्रवियों ने अशांति फैलाने की कोशिश की।
