Commonwealth Chief Urges King Charles To Apologise For Slave Trade

Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has called on King Charles III to issue an apology for Britain's historical role in the slave trade. She stated that the time has come for countries to discuss reparations for the harm caused by slavery, with several Commonwealth nations desiring an apology ahead of the King's Caribbean tour. Botchwey suggested that reparations could take various forms, including financial compensation, concessional financing, artifact returns, or climate action.
