Goa Intensifies Rabies Control Efforts After Karnataka Cases Surge
Times of India · health
Goa has heightened its rabies control measures along the Karnataka border following a significant increase in cases in Karwar and Ankola over the past six months. Approximately 40 rabies cases were reported in these areas, prompting authorities to extend their intervention efforts beyond state lines to prevent the virus from entering Goa. The Karnataka program will involve sterilization, vaccination, and awareness drives, alongside enhanced surveillance on both sides of the border. This initiative aims to maintain Goa's status as India's first state with 100% rabies control.
