Sebi Proposes Market Cap-Based SME Listing Norms, Lower Application Size

Business Standard · stocks

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has proposed significant changes to SME IPO listing criteria, shifting from paid-up capital to market capitalisation thresholds. The regulator also plans to reduce the minimum application size to ₹1 lakh, down from ₹2 lakh. Sebi aims to ease capital raising for businesses by lowering compliance burdens and widening investor participation. Established companies not meeting new profitability criteria can still list if 75% of their offer is allocated to Qualified Institutional Buyers.
