Times of India · business

India has joined the US and over a dozen other economies, including Canada, EU, Japan, and the UK, to address structural excess capacity in sectors like autos, batteries, chemicals, semiconductors, and solar panels. This coalition aims to coordinate sectoral actions and counter the global dominance of China in these industries. The group expressed concern that unchecked production could cripple domestic industries, displace jobs, and undermine economies. Countries are committed to meeting by December 2026 to share data and explore complementary actions to mitigate the negative impacts of distorted trade practices.
