केरल के पशु चिकित्सा सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य विंग की स्थापना अभी तक नहीं हुई है। 2016 में गीता एन. पोट्टी पैनल की सिफारिश और ओमन चांडी कैबिनेट की मंजूरी के बावजूद यह काम अटका हुआ है। ज़ूनोटिक बीमारियों के बढ़ते खतरे के बावजूद इस देरी से चिंता बढ़ रही है। इस विंग का मकसद जानवरों से फैलने वाली बीमारियों से निपटकर सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य को मजबूत करना था। इसके न होने से राज्य की तैयारी पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं।
