Tribal Affairs Ministry: Gram Sabha Consent Not Mandatory

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has stated that the Forest Rights Act contains no provision mandating gram sabha consent for projects in forest areas. Responding to the Union Ministry of Power, it clarified that requirements for '100% gram sabha consent' do not fall under its jurisdiction.

आदिवासी मामलों के मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि वन अधिकार अधिनियम में ऐसा कोई नियम नहीं है जो जंगल के इलाकों में प्रोजेक्ट्स के लिए ग्राम सभा की मंजूरी को ज़रूरी बताता हो। बिजली मंत्रालय को जवाब देते हुए, उन्होंने साफ किया कि '100% ग्राम सभा की मंजूरी' की ज़रूरतें उनके अधिकार क्षेत्र में नहीं आती हैं।
