Faulty Traffic Signals Cause Health Hazards for Police

Traffic police in Bengaluru and Mysuru are facing significant health risks due to faulty traffic signals, forcing them into prolonged manual regulation for up to eight hours daily. This exposure to heat, rain, dust, and vehicular emissions is reportedly causing eye irritation, sleep disturbances, and stress. Inadequate maintenance contracts have left signals non-functional for months. A Karnataka State Police Complaints Authority member has urged the Director-General to renew maintenance contracts and fix the signals, aiming to reduce the physical and mental toll on personnel.

बेंगलुरु और मैसूरु में ट्रैफिक पुलिस को खराब ट्रैफिक सिग्नल की वजह से सेहत का भारी खतरा है। उन्हें दिन में आठ घंटे तक खुद ही ट्रैफिक संभालना पड़ता है। लगातार गर्मी, बारिश, धूल और गाड़ियों के धुएं से उनकी आंखों में जलन, नींद की दिक्कत और तनाव बढ़ रहा है। मेंटेनेंस ठीक न होने से सिग्नल महीनों से बंद पड़े हैं। कर्नाटक स्टेट पुलिस कंप्लेंट्स अथॉरिटी ने डीजीपी से सिग्नल ठीक कराने और मेंटेनेंस कॉन्ट्रैक्ट रिन्यू करने को कहा है, ताकि पुलिसकर्मियों पर पड़ने वाले शारीरिक और मानसिक दबाव को कम किया जा सके।
