Why Glass Appears Transparent, Green, Or Blue: A Scientific Explanation
Aaj Tak · science
Glass, commonly used in everyday items like windows and bottles, can appear transparent, green, or blue due to its composition and interaction with light. Transparent glass allows most visible light to pass through with minimal absorption. The green tint often seen in thicker glass or its edges is caused by trace amounts of iron impurities present in the raw materials. These iron particles absorb certain colors of light more than others, allowing green light to be transmitted more readily.
