This would be the longest such period since 2001, when the index fell for nine weeks. However, the current sell-off is less severe than previous extended declines, with a 5.8% loss over seven weeks compared to steeper drops in past instances. Technical analysts indicate a weak underlying trend, with lower tops and bottoms forming on daily charts.
