World Food Programme Cuts Aid To Gaza Amid Funding Shortages

BBC World · world

The World Food Programme (WFP) is drastically reducing lifesaving assistance to Gaza due to severe funding shortages. The number of people receiving aid will drop by a third, from 1.6 million to 1.1 million, impacting families as winter approaches. Daily hot meals provided by community kitchens will decrease from 250,000 to 150,000. Families in hard-to-reach areas will receive meals every other day instead of daily. This comes as nearly all of Gaza's 2.1 million population is displaced and two-thirds rely on food aid.
