Vehicular traffic on the Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway faced disruption on Wednesday due to a farmers' protest over sugarcane and ethanol prices on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. Police advised commuters to avoid National Highway 48, which has been marked as closed on Google Maps at the request of authorities. The agitation, which began Tuesday morning, has impacted travel between Kolhapur and Belagavi. Alternative routes have been identified and communicated to travellers, with police assuring updates once the situation normalises.
