Delhi Ramlila to Burn 30-Foot Cockroach Effigy Symbolizing Dirt

This year's Dussehra celebration in Delhi's Pitampura will feature the burning of a 30-foot cockroach effigy alongside traditional figures of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghanada. The Shri Keshav Ramlila Committee stated that the cockroach symbolizes dirt and filth, with its burning intended to promote the Swachh Bharat and Swachh Delhi campaigns. Committee president and BJP MLA Ashok Goel clarified that the decision is not politically motivated, aiming instead to spread a message of cleanliness and the victory of good over evil.

इस साल दिल्ली के पीतमपुरा में दशहरा उत्सव में रावण, कुंभकर्ण और मेघनाद के पारंपरिक पुतलों के साथ 30 फुट के कॉकरोच के पुतले को भी जलाया जाएगा। श्री केशव रामलीला समिति ने बताया कि कॉकरोच गंदगी और मैल का प्रतीक है, और इसे जलाकर स्वच्छ भारत और स्वच्छ दिल्ली अभियानों को बढ़ावा देने का इरादा है। समिति के अध्यक्ष और भाजपा विधायक अशोक गोयल ने स्पष्ट किया कि यह फैसला राजनीतिक रूप से प्रेरित नहीं है, बल्कि इसका उद्देश्य स्वच्छता और बुराई पर अच्छाई की जीत का संदेश फैलाना है।
