Science Debunks Left-Brain vs. Right-Brain Personality Myth
Hindustan Times · science
The popular idea that people are either "left-brained" (logical) or "right-brained" (creative) is a myth, according to scientific research. This concept originated in the 1860s with discoveries about brain lateralization, where specific functions were found to be concentrated in one hemisphere. However, a 2013 study analyzing over 1,000 MRIs found no evidence that individuals consistently use one hemisphere more than the other based on personality or skills. While some functions are indeed lateralized, the theory of dominant brain sides for personality traits is not supported by modern neuroscience.
