SC hears PIL on pellet-gun use

The Supreme Court is hearing a Public Interest Litigation concerning the use of pellet guns during student protests. The court observed that if police can use bullets in extreme violent situations, they should not be barred from using pellet guns when protests turn violent after being hijacked by miscreants. This raises questions about the proportionality of force used by law enforcement during demonstrations.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट छात्र प्रदर्शनों में पैलेट गन के इस्तेमाल पर एक जनहित याचिका सुन रहा है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि अगर पुलिस अत्यधिक हिंसा की स्थिति में गोलियां चला सकती है, तो उन्हें पैलेट गन इस्तेमाल करने से नहीं रोका जाना चाहिए जब प्रदर्शन उपद्रवियों द्वारा हाईजैक किए जाने के बाद हिंसक हो जाएं। यह प्रदर्शनों के दौरान पुलिस द्वारा बल के इस्तेमाल के अनुपात पर सवाल उठाता है।
