Belgian Quarry Integrates Solar Panels With Sheep Farming

A quarry in Florennes, Belgium, has launched a 3.3-hectare agrivoltaic project combining 3,240 solar panels with sheep farming. Developed by Calcaires Agri Énergie and Ether Energy, the project features panels raised six metres apart, allowing sheep to graze underneath. This setup aims to preserve farmland while producing 2.33 GWh of clean electricity annually. The generated power will supply the quarry and the public grid, supporting local mutton production and reducing the quarry's carbon footprint by an estimated 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ yearly.

बेल्जियम के फ्लोरेंस में एक खदान ने 3.3 हेक्टेयर का एग्रीवोल्टेइक प्रोजेक्ट शुरू किया है। इसमें 3,240 सोलर पैनल लगाए गए हैं और साथ में भेड़ें पाली जा रही हैं। यह प्रोजेक्ट भेड़ों को पैनलों के नीचे चरने की सुविधा देता है। इससे खेती योग्य जमीन बची रहेगी और हर साल 2.33 GWh बिजली बनेगी। यह बिजली खदान और पब्लिक ग्रिड को मिलेगी, जिससे स्थानीय मांस उत्पादन को बढ़ावा मिलेगा और खदान का कार्बन फुटप्रिंट 2,000 टन CO₂ कम होगा।
