Unusual names and details have appeared in the electoral roll for Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council elections, prompting the Election Commission of India to clarify. Entries like 'Ram ne Yadav ko maara' and 'B.Com' in place of father's name were found in the Allahabad-Jhansi graduates' constituency. Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa stated that 158 out of 14.81 lakh entries contained errors, largely due to a software glitch during the digital preparation of rolls. The software, intended for transliteration, mistakenly translated some names, leading to these bizarre entries.
