Bengaluru Tomato Prices Crash Up To 80% Amidst Production Glut
Times of India · business
Tomato prices in Bengaluru have plummeted by up to 80%, falling from Rs 50 per kg to as low as Rs 10 in approximately one week. This significant price drop is attributed to a glut in production, slow offtake, and tapering demand, with the city sourcing tomatoes from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. While some vendors reported prices as low as Rs 10-20, others noted prices remaining in the Rs 25-35 range, indicating the relief is not uniform across all city areas or tomato varieties.
