Lucknow's Hanuman Setu temple has stopped devotees from offering flower garlands to deities to prevent idol damage. The temple trust introduced this restriction about two months ago, ending a long-standing practice. Moisture from garlands causes colours to bleed and paint to wear off, while insects also pose a problem. Devotees can now offer cloth or paper garlands, or place flowers nearby. The temple is exploring alternatives to allow traditional offerings without harming the idols.

लखनऊ के हनुमान सेतु मंदिर ने देवी-देवताओं को फूलों की माला चढ़ाने से भक्तों को रोक दिया है ताकि मूर्तियों को नुकसान से बचाया जा सके। मंदिर ट्रस्ट ने लगभग दो महीने पहले इस प्रतिबंध को लागू किया, जिससे यह पुरानी प्रथा समाप्त हो गई। मालाओं से नमी के कारण रंग उड़ जाते हैं और पेंट उतर जाता है, साथ ही कीड़े भी समस्या पैदा करते हैं। अब भक्त कपड़े या कागज की माला चढ़ा सकते हैं, या फूल पास में रख सकते हैं। मंदिर मूर्तियों को नुकसान पहुंचाए बिना पारंपरिक चढ़ावे की अनुमति देने के लिए विकल्पों पर विचार कर रहा है।
