AI firm Anthropic has signed its first data centre lease agreement in Australia, securing capacity for what will be one of the world's largest computing facilities. The lease covers a campus with a planned capacity of 2.16 gigawatts. This facility, located about 250 km from Brisbane, is expected to begin operations in 2027. Anthropic joins other AI heavyweights like OpenAI in establishing a presence in Australia, attracted by its renewable energy resources.
