Supreme Court Orders Normal Metro, Rail Services Amid Delhi Protest Petitions

The Supreme Court has directed authorities to ensure normal functioning of Metro and railway services in Delhi, restore internet connectivity, and permit free movement, subject to lawful restrictions for public order. The court cautioned against detaining individuals except as per law, including those in peaceful assemblies outside prohibitory zones. These directions came while hearing petitions alleging police excesses and mass detentions during recent protests. Authorities were also ordered to review barricades and ensure access to courts remains unimpeded.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया है कि दिल्ली में मेट्रो और रेलवे सेवाओं का सामान्य कामकाज सुनिश्चित किया जाए, इंटरनेट कनेक्टिविटी बहाल की जाए और सार्वजनिक व्यवस्था के लिए कानूनी प्रतिबंधों के अधीन रहते हुए आवाजाही की स्वतंत्रता की अनुमति दी जाए। अदालत ने कानून के अनुसार ही लोगों को हिरासत में लेने की चेतावनी दी, जिसमें निषेधाज्ञा क्षेत्रों के बाहर शांतिपूर्ण सभाओं में शामिल लोग भी शामिल हैं। ये निर्देश हालिया विरोध प्रदर्शनों के दौरान पुलिस की ज्यादतियों और बड़े पैमाने पर की गई गिरफ्तारियों के आरोपों वाली याचिकाओं पर सुनवाई के दौरान आए। अधिकारियों को बैरिकेड्स की समीक्षा करने और अदालतों तक पहुंच निर्बाध सुनिश्चित करने का भी आदेश दिया गया।
