DMK Demands Judicial Probe Into Theni Jailbreak, Dismissal of Minister

Following a mass jailbreak of 17 remand prisoners from Theni's Thekkampatti sub-jail, the DMK has demanded a judicial inquiry headed by a sitting Madras High Court judge. The inmates reportedly staged a fake seizure, attacked guards, and escaped through the main gate. This incident, the first mass jailbreak in Tamil Nadu in 31 years, follows another escape from Puzhal prison. The DMK also called for the dismissal of Prisons Minister C T R Nirmal Kumar, citing alleged security lapses and administrative negligence across his portfolios.
