Music composer Ilaiyaraaja shared a poignant memory of his early days in Chennai, recalling how he, his brother Bhaskar, and filmmaker Bharathiraja would often go hungry during Navaratri. They would visit places where food was distributed, collect it, and share it back in their room. These difficult experiences inspired his wife to start Navaratri Golu celebrations on a grand scale to ensure no one went hungry. The tradition has since evolved into a musical gathering, combining music and tradition.
