GST on NBFC Co-Lending Services: 18% Tax Proposed

TV9 Hindi · business

India's GST Council's fitment committee has proposed an 18% GST on services provided by Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) to banks under the co-lending model. This move aims to resolve long-standing tax ambiguities and legal disputes within the financial sector. The tax will apply only to the service fee portion, not the principal loan amount or interest paid by customers. The value of these services will be determined based on RBI guidelines, clarifying the process for banks and fintech platforms.
