Assam Singer Quits BJP Over Personal Reasons

Assam singer Simanta Shekhar has resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party's primary membership and as chairperson of the Assam Film Finance Corporation. He cited personal reasons for his decision, stating it was unrelated to the party's ideology or policies. Shekhar had previously criticized a local MLA for factual errors regarding cultural icon Zubeen Garg. He submitted his resignation letters to the Chief Minister and State BJP president, and indicated he would not.
