Over 1300 Parties' Funding Unaccounted For; Zero-Seat Parties Received Crores

A report by the ADR highlights significant transparency issues in political party funding. Approximately 65% of registered unrecognised political parties (RUPPs) failed to make their financial reports public for FY 2024-25. This means their income, donations, and expenditures remain undisclosed. Shockingly, some parties that won no seats declared crores in donations. For instance, Gujarat's New India United Party declared ₹270.99 crore in donations, despite contesting elections without winning any seats. Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraj party declared ₹99.40 crore in donations.
