Artificial intelligence data centers consumed 155 terawatt-hours of energy last year, a figure expected to triple to 465 terawatt-hours annually by 2030. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko stated this projection, comparing last year's AI data center consumption to the 60 terawatt-hours used by the entire city of Moscow. He emphasized the critical importance of the energy sector's development, advocating for advancements in fusion and nuclear power as the cleanest energy sources.
