Kerala Man Detained for Allegedly Strangling Lover, Burning Body

An 18-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu was allegedly strangled to death and her body set on fire in Kerala's Idukki district. Police have detained 19-year-old Nishanth, who was reportedly in a relationship with the victim. Her charred remains were found behind an unused shed near a KSEB quarters. Relatives identified the body using nail polish and physical features. Investigators suspect Nishanth sexually assaulted and then murdered her after an argument, before burning the body. The victim had travelled to Idukki on October 11.
