Odisha's installed steel capacity is projected to reach between 150 and 180 million tonnes within the next five years, signaling a shift towards value-added metals manufacturing. The state aims to become a global hub, moving beyond its traditional mining strengths. Around 20 new mines have become operational recently, with 30 more in development, creating opportunities in logistics and services. The government has approved 27 industrial projects worth Rs 2.47 lakh crore, potentially generating over 50,000 jobs and focusing on downstream industries.

ओडिशा में अगले पाँच सालों में स्टील उत्पादन क्षमता 150 से 180 मिलियन टन तक पहुँचने का अनुमान है। राज्य का लक्ष्य सिर्फ खनन से आगे बढ़कर वैल्यू-एडेड मेटल्स मैन्युफैक्चरिंग का ग्लोबल हब बनना है। हाल ही में 20 नई खदानें शुरू हुई हैं और 30 और बन रही हैं, जिससे लॉजिस्टिक्स और सेवाओं में नए अवसर पैदा होंगे। सरकार ने 2.47 लाख करोड़ रुपये के 27 औद्योगिक प्रोजेक्ट्स को मंजूरी दी है, जिनसे 50,000 से ज़्यादा नौकरियाँ मिल सकती हैं।
