UN Refugee Chief Urges Nations to End Conflicts

UN refugee chief Barham Salih urged world leaders to prioritize ending conflicts and crises, enabling over 117 million displaced people to return home. Speaking at the UN Security Council, he emphasized the council's responsibility to foster peace, noting that humanitarian efforts alone cannot resolve displacement. Salih highlighted ongoing crises in Sudan, Congo, Ukraine, and Western Sahara as examples of prolonged suffering. He stressed that success means creating conditions for people to rebuild their lives, not just managing displacement.

संयुक्त राष्ट्र के शरणार्थी प्रमुख बार्हम सलीह ने विश्व नेताओं से संघर्ष और संकट खत्म करने को प्राथमिकता देने को कहा, ताकि 11.7 करोड़ से ज़्यादा विस्थापित लोग अपने घर लौट सकें। उन्होंने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में कहा कि शांति कायम करना परिषद की ज़िम्मेदारी है, और सिर्फ़ मानवीय मदद से विस्थापन का हल नहीं हो सकता। सलीह ने सूडान, कांगो, यूक्रेन और पश्चिमी सहारा जैसे देशों में जारी संकटों का ज़िक्र किया। उनका कहना था कि सफलता का मतलब सिर्फ़ विस्थापन का प्रबंधन नहीं, बल्कि लोगों को अपना जीवन फिर से बनाने के लायक माहौल बनाना है।
