Allahabad HC Dismisses Plea Against Ambedkar Nagar Delimitation

The Allahabad High Court's Lucknow bench has dismissed a petition challenging the delimitation of Assembly constituencies in Ambedkar Nagar district and the reservation of the Alapur seat for Scheduled Castes. The court found the challenge to be belated and lacking evidence of constitutional violation. It noted that the delimitation order, published in December 2006, had the force of law and could not be reopened after nearly two decades. The bench also stated that population-seat parity in delimitation is only required 'so far as practicable', allowing for other factors.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट की लखनऊ बेंच ने आंबेडकर नगर जिले में विधानसभा सीटों के परिसीमन और अलापुर सीट को अनुसूचित जाति के लिए आरक्षित करने को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका खारिज कर दी है। कोर्ट ने पाया कि यह चुनौती देर से दी गई है और इसमें संवैधानिक उल्लंघन का कोई सबूत नहीं है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि दिसंबर 2006 में प्रकाशित परिसीमन आदेश का कानून जैसा प्रभाव था और लगभग दो दशक बाद इसे फिर से नहीं खोला जा सकता। बेंच ने यह भी कहा कि परिसीमन में जनसंख्या-सीट समानता केवल 'जहां तक संभव हो' आवश्यक है, जिससे अन्य कारकों को भी अनुमति मिलती है।
