China Discovers Vast Reserves of Gold, Nickel, and Rhenium

China has announced a significant discovery of valuable mineral resources, including gold, nickel, and rhenium, boosting its strategic reserves. A nationwide reassessment of mineral deposits revealed substantial increases, particularly a more than 200% rise in rhenium reserves, crucial for jet engine components. The gold reserves found are equivalent to those of 50 large mines, while nickel reserves increased by the equivalent of 30 mines. This extensive survey, involving over 1,800 mining areas and 2,000 personnel, also identified new deposits of gallium, indium, tantalum, and vanadium.
