Kerala HC Declines Interim Order On Film Screenings

The Kerala High Court has declined to pass an interim order on a petition filed by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy. The academy challenged the Union ministry of information and broadcasting's decision to withhold permission for screening seven documentaries at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala. The ministry stated that six films were referred to the home affairs ministry and one to the external affairs ministry for inputs. The court noted there was no apparent arbitrariness in the decision and directed the ministry to file a statement.

केरल हाईकोर्ट ने केरल स्टेट चलचित्रा एकेडमी की याचिका पर अंतरिम आदेश देने से इनकार कर दिया है। एकेडमी ने सूचना और प्रसारण मंत्रालय के उस फैसले को चुनौती दी थी, जिसमें केरल के इंटरनेशनल डॉक्यूमेंट्री एंड शॉर्ट फिल्म फेस्टिवल में सात डॉक्यूमेंट्री फिल्मों की स्क्रीनिंग की अनुमति रोकी गई थी। मंत्रालय ने कहा कि छह फिल्मों को गृह मंत्रालय और एक फिल्म को विदेश मंत्रालय को इनपुट के लिए भेजा गया था। कोर्ट ने कहा कि फैसले में कोई स्पष्ट मनमानी नहीं है और मंत्रालय को एक बयान दाखिल करने का निर्देश दिया।
