New Expressway to Cut Mohali-Bathinda Travel Time by 2 Hours

A new 135km greenfield highway being developed by NHAI under the Bharatmala Pariyojana will significantly reduce travel time between Mohali and Bathinda. The project aims to cut the journey from the current four to five hours down to two to three hours. The first phase, a 27.37km stretch from Mohali to Sirhind, is nearly 80% complete and expected to open by the end of 2026. This Rs 5,200 crore corridor is designed to alleviate traffic congestion on the existing route, which is operating beyond its capacity.

NHAI द्वारा भारतमाला परियोजना के तहत विकसित किया जा रहा 135 किमी का नया ग्रीनफील्ड हाईवे मोहाली और बठिंडा के बीच यात्रा के समय को काफी कम कर देगा। इस परियोजना का लक्ष्य वर्तमान चार से पांच घंटे की यात्रा को घटाकर दो से तीन घंटे करना है। पहले चरण में, मोहाली से सरहिंद तक का 27.37 किमी का हिस्सा लगभग 80% पूरा हो चुका है और 2026 के अंत तक खुलने की उम्मीद है। यह 5,200 करोड़ रुपये का कॉरिडोर मौजूदा मार्ग पर यातायात की भीड़ को कम करने के लिए डिज़ाइन किया गया है, जो अपनी क्षमता से अधिक चल रहा है।
