Researchers have reported very low radioactivity values across several Arctic archipelagos. Measurements were taken in areas including Tikhaya Bay polar station on Hooker Island, Heiss, Wilczek, and Prince Georg Land Islands on Franz Josef Land, and near the Russian Harbor polar station on Severny Island, Novaya Zemlya.
