बांग्लादेश की पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना ने भारत में ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन में ढाका के शामिल न होने के फैसले को 'बहुत दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण' बताया है। उन्होंने कहा कि विदेश नीति व्यक्तिगत प्रतिक्रियाओं या अल्पकालिक राजनीतिक गणनाओं पर आधारित नहीं होनी चाहिए, और देशों के बीच संबंध व्यक्तिगत संवेदनशीलता पर निर्भर नहीं कर सकते। हसीना ने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि बांग्लादेश वर्तमान में लोकतांत्रिक जगहों के बंद होने के साथ एक गंभीर राष्ट्रीय संकट का सामना कर रहा है, और एक परिपक्व और संतुलित विदेश नीति की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया।
