BCCI President Mithun Manhas has clarified that player selection for the Indian cricket team will be based on fitness and performance, not age. This statement fuels speculation about veteran players Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli potentially participating in the 2027 Cricket World Cup. Manhas emphasized that any player performing well and winning matches for the country should not be excluded solely based on their age. Rohit will be 40 and Kohli 38 during the 2027 tournament, which will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
