Ahmedabad police detained 61 individuals, allegedly undocumented immigrants, on Monday as part of a public safety initiative preceding the Diwali festival. Authorities stated that most of those detained were Bangladeshi citizens, with women and children also being held. The detainees were transferred to the Gujarat Police’s crime branch headquarters for further processing at a specialized interrogation facility. Legal proceedings for their deportation are reportedly underway, following a directive from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to verify credentials of suspected migrants.

अहमदाबाद पुलिस ने दिवाली के त्यौहार से पहले एक जन सुरक्षा पहल के तहत सोमवार को कथित तौर पर अवैध प्रवासी 61 लोगों को हिरासत में लिया। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि हिरासत में लिए गए ज्यादातर लोग बांग्लादेशी नागरिक थे, जिनमें महिलाएं और बच्चे भी शामिल थे। हिरासत में लिए गए लोगों को आगे की प्रक्रिया के लिए गुजरात पुलिस के अपराध शाखा मुख्यालय में एक विशेष पूछताछ सुविधा में ले जाया गया। केंद्रीय गृह मंत्रालय के संदिग्ध प्रवासियों की साख की जांच के निर्देश के बाद कथित तौर पर उनके निर्वासन के लिए कानूनी कार्यवाही चल रही है।
