Bihar Tigress Arrives In West Bengal For Reintroduction On October 2

A three-year-old tigress has arrived at West Bengal's Buxa Tiger Reserve from Bihar's Valmiki Tiger Reserve, marking the first tiger reintroduction in the eastern state. The tigress reached the Hasimara air force base on Wednesday and will be released into the reserve's core zone on October 2. This initiative follows an eight-year effort after a 2018 report indicated no tigers in Buxa. Efforts to restore the prey base, including relocating villages and releasing deer, have been ongoing.
