A Jalpaiguri court in West Bengal has sentenced Srikanta Roy to death for murdering his wife Soma Roy on January 24, 2026. The court deemed the crime "rarest of rare." Simultaneously, the judge directed the District Magistrate to ensure the education and well-being of Roy's two minor children. The state will cover all expenses for their food, lodging, and education until they turn 21, upholding the children's fundamental right to education.

बंगाल कोर्ट ने सुनाई मौत की सज़ा, बाल कल्याण का आदेश

पश्चिम बंगाल के जलपाईगुड़ी कोर्ट ने श्रीकांत रॉय को अपनी पत्नी सोमा रॉय की 24 जनवरी 2026 को हत्या के जुर्म में मौत की सज़ा सुनाई है। कोर्ट ने इस जुर्म को "दुर्लभ से दुर्लभतम" माना। साथ ही, जज ने डिस्ट्रिक्ट मजिस्ट्रेट को रॉय के दो नाबालिग बच्चों की पढ़ाई और देखभाल सुनिश्चित करने का आदेश दिया। राज्य उनके 21 साल का होने तक उनके खाने, रहने और पढ़ाई का सारा खर्च उठाएगा।
