India Bonds Slide Amid US Treasury Rout and Increased Supply
Economic Times Markets · stocks
Indian government bonds experienced a significant slide on Thursday, influenced by rising US Treasury yields and substantial supply from new bond sales. The benchmark 2036 bond yield climbed to a two-and-a-half-year high, marking its worst week in seven. Global bond markets have also seen considerable volatility, with traders adjusting expectations for US interest rate cuts. The Reserve Bank of India is widely anticipated to increase rates next week due to rising inflation and a tightening global monetary policy, further pressuring the domestic debt market.
