CBI Officer Reinstated Amidst Ongoing Bribery Trial

A former CBI deputy superintendent of police, Neeraj Agarwal, has been reinstated into service after being dismissed in 2017 over a ₹50 lakh bribery case. The Delhi High Court set aside his dismissal and directed his reinstatement, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court. Agarwal, who was arrested in April 2017 and dismissed in June 2018, continues to face trial in the graft case. He has been posted to the Anti-Corruption Branch in Madurai. The court permitted disciplinary proceedings to continue against him.

एक पूर्व सीबीआई डिप्टी सुपरिंटेंडेंट ऑफ पुलिस, नीरज अग्रवाल, को ₹50 लाख की रिश्वतखोरी मामले में 2017 में बर्खास्त किए जाने के बाद सेवा में बहाल कर दिया गया है। दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने उनकी बर्खास्तगी को रद्द कर दिया और उनकी बहाली का निर्देश दिया, जिसे सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने भी बरकरार रखा। अप्रैल 2017 में गिरफ्तार हुए और जून 2018 में बर्खास्त किए गए अग्रवाल, भ्रष्टाचार के मामले में मुकदमे का सामना करना जारी रखेंगे। उन्हें मदुरै में एंटी-करप्शन ब्रांच में तैनात किया गया है। अदालत ने उनके खिलाफ अनुशासनात्मक कार्यवाही जारी रखने की अनुमति दी है।
