The Union Cabinet has approved the strengthening and extension of 850 fast track courts specifically to handle child abuse and rape cases. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that this decision underscores the government's commitment to decisively addressing atrocities against women and children. The initiative aims to fully implement existing laws and develop new legislation for such matters. Introduced in October 2019, the Centrally Sponsored Scheme for Fast Track Special Courts is dedicated to the swift trial and resolution of pending cases involving rape and POCSO Act violations.
