Open Drain on Gandhi Road Poses Safety Risks For 8 Months

An open drain on Dehradun's Gandhi Road has been a safety hazard for residents and pedestrians for eight months, since civic work left it uncovered in February. Despite numerous complaints to the municipal corporation and the CM helpline, the issue remains unresolved, with one resident reporting that a complaint was closed without action. The choked drain also causes severe waterlogging during the monsoon, flooding nearby houses and shops. Dehradun Municipal Corporation officials have now assured that the drain will be cleaned and covered immediately.

देहरादून के गांधी रोड पर एक खुला नाला पिछले 8 महीनों से लोगों और राहगीरों के लिए खतरे का सबब बना हुआ है। फरवरी में सिविक वर्क के बाद इसे खुला छोड़ दिया गया था। नगर निगम और सीएम हेल्पलाइन में कई शिकायतें जाने के बावजूद, समस्या जस की तस बनी हुई है। एक निवासी ने बताया कि एक शिकायत बिना कार्रवाई के बंद कर दी गई। मानसून के दौरान जाम नाले से गंभीर जलभराव भी होता है, जिससे आसपास के घरों और दुकानों में पानी भर जाता है। अब देहरादून नगर निगम के अधिकारियों ने आश्वासन दिया है कि नाले की सफाई और उसे तुरंत ढक दिया जाएगा।
