India Slams US VP Vance's 'Indentured Servants' Remark On IT Professionals

The Hindu - International · world

India's Ministry of External Affairs has strongly condemned U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance's remarks calling Indian IT professionals "indentured servants" as "deeply offensive" and "unwarranted." The ministry stated that such terminology carries painful historical and colonial connotations. This comes after the U.S. suspended the Permanent Labour Certification programme for eight IT outsourcing giants, including five Indian firms, accusing them of visa fraud. India argued that these professionals are highly skilled contributors to the U.S. economy and that talent mobility benefits both nations.
