Supreme Court Issues Notice on SMS Medical College Principal Appointment

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Rajasthan government regarding the appointment of Deepak Maheshwari as the principal of SMS Medical College in Jaipur. The court is seeking a response within six weeks to a special leave petition challenging the appointment. The petition argues that Maheshwari had resigned from his professor position in 2016 and therefore could not be reinstated and appointed as principal. The petitioner cited Rajasthan Service Rules stating that an accepted resignation ends government service. This legal challenge follows dismissals by the Rajasthan High Court.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने जयपुर के एसएमएस मेडिकल कॉलेज के प्रिंसिपल के पद पर दीपक माहेश्वरी की नियुक्ति के संबंध में राजस्थान सरकार को नोटिस जारी किया है। कोर्ट ने इस नियुक्ति को चुनौती देने वाली विशेष अनुमति याचिका पर छह सप्ताह के भीतर जवाब मांगा है। याचिका में कहा गया है कि माहेश्वरी ने 2016 में अपने प्रोफेसर पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया था और इसलिए उन्हें प्रिंसिपल के पद पर बहाल नहीं किया जा सकता। याचिकाकर्ता ने राजस्थान सेवा नियमों का हवाला देते हुए कहा कि स्वीकार किया गया इस्तीफा सरकारी सेवा समाप्त कर देता है। यह कानूनी चुनौती राजस्थान हाई कोर्ट द्वारा खारिज किए जाने के बाद आई है।
