Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict A.G. Perarivalan seeks passport from Madras High Court

A.G. Perarivalan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, has approached the Madras High Court seeking the issuance of an Indian passport. The court directed the Regional Passport Office to consider his representation for expeditious disposal of his application. Perarivalan, who was convicted for his role in the 1991 assassination, was released in 2022 after nearly 32 years of incarceration. Following his release, he completed his law degree and was enrolled with the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
