Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth has created history by becoming the first woman officer in the Indian Air Force to qualify as a Fighter Combat Leader. This advanced combat training was completed at the Tactics and Air Combat Development Establishment (TACDE) in Gwalior. Kanth's journey began with a childhood fascination for jets, initially unaware that women were not inducted into the fighter stream. Her ambition persisted after learning about the barrier, and she became one of India's first three women fighter pilots in 2016.
